This policy explains what personal data teechr collects, why, who receives it, how long it is kept and what your rights are. It covers teechr.co: the website, the studio where teachers make videos, and the video pages their students watch.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is SAS KERAPPS, a French company trading as teechr (SIREN 910 389 899). Contact: hello@teechr.co.
SAS KERAPPS has not appointed a data protection officer.
2. Teachers: account holders
You sign in with one of the ways the sign-in page offers:
- With Google. Google shares your email address, your name and your profile picture with teechr (the
openid email profilescopes). - With Microsoft. Microsoft shares your email address, your name and the ids of your account and of your organization's directory with teechr (the
openid email profilescopes). - With your email address and a password. When you create the account or reset its password, teechr emails you a six-digit code, and you type it back to show that the address is yours.
If Google or Microsoft does not confirm that the email address is yours, the sign-in only finishes once you type in a code sent to that address. Every way of signing in with the same address opens the same account. teechr keeps:
- Identity: your email address, your name and, if you sign in with Google, the web address of your Google profile picture. For each Google or Microsoft account you sign in with, teechr keeps a keyed hash of its id, so that it opens your account next time; your account's own id is derived the same way. The Google and Microsoft ids themselves are not stored.
- Password: if you set one, a salted, deliberately slow hash of it (scrypt). The password itself is never stored.
- Sign-in codes and password tries: while a code is valid, a keyed hash of it, when it expires and how many tries are left; when codes were sent to the address and when passwords were tried for it; and how many codes were asked for and passwords tried from your network, counted under a keyed hash of your IP address. The code itself is only ever in the email.
- Account: when the account was created, when you last signed in, and the narrator voice you chose as your default.
- Your content: the course files you upload, kept with their original file name, and the text extracted from them; your drafts, scripts and storyboards; voiceover audio; your videos and folders.
- Usage: technical details of your last 10 script generations (model, settings, length of the course text, tokens, cost and date), and a log of each paid processing step on your account (kind, date, model or voice engine, units and cost). teechr also notes, with the date, the steps you take on the way to a video — signing in, uploading a course, starting a lesson, publishing, copying a link, opening the plan panel, going to checkout — to see where people give up.
- Billing: if you subscribe or buy lesson credits, your Stripe customer id, your subscription's id, plan, status and period dates, each credit purchase's Checkout session id and number of credits, and the lessons used and amounts spent in each billing period and from your credits. You enter your payment details on Stripe's pages; teechr never receives or stores them.
3. Students and other viewers
Watching a video needs no account, and teechr does not ask who you are. When you open a video's link:
- your browser stores a random identifier (
teechr.visitor) in its local storage, so that coming back from the same browser counts as the same visitor; - the page tells teechr that it was opened, which seconds of the video were played and, if you answer the closing question, which option you picked. teechr stores these with the video's length, the number of seconds seen and whether the answer was right. Each record carries the random identifier, the video it is about and the time.
teechr does not store your IP address, browser details or location with these records. Your IP address is only used briefly, in memory, to stop floods of reports. If you are signed in to teechr while watching, nothing is recorded. These records are used to measure how lessons are watched. To stop your views being counted in this browser, use the button below. The choice is kept in the browser, so clearing its site data for teechr.co undoes it.
Your views are counted in this browser.
4. Everyone
- Theme: if you pick the light or dark theme, your browser remembers it (
teechr.theme). - Visits: teechr's own pages — the front page, pricing, about and the studio — count their visits under the same random identifier as the video pages (
teechr.visitor): the page, where you came from when your browser says so, and whether you opened the sign-in dialog or chose a way in. Nothing about the person, and no IP address. The button in section 3 stops this too. - Technical logs: Cloudflare, which hosts teechr, processes connection data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it, and keeps request logs for a few days.
- Messages: if you email teechr, your address and your message are used to answer you.
5. Why, and on what legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Running your account, the studio, your videos and their links | Performance of the contract, art. 6(1)(b) |
| Writing scripts and voiceovers from your material | Performance of the contract, art. 6(1)(b) |
| Billing and accounting | Performance of the contract, art. 6(1)(b), and legal obligation, art. 6(1)(c) |
| Capping what each lesson may cost, and preventing abuse of free lessons, of video pages and of sign-in codes | Legitimate interest, art. 6(1)(f): keeping the service affordable and available |
| Viewing statistics | Legitimate interest, art. 6(1)(f): measuring how lessons are watched |
| Security and technical logs | Legitimate interest, art. 6(1)(f): keeping the service secure and working |
| Answering your messages | Legitimate interest, art. 6(1)(f), or the contract if you are a customer |
teechr takes no decision about you based solely on automated processing with legal or similarly significant effects. AI writes scripts from course material; it does not assess people.
6. Who receives it
teechr does not sell personal data and does not share it with advertisers. It relies on these providers:
| Provider | What for | What it receives | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Hosting, file storage, databases, logs, sending sign-in codes by email | All the data above | USA |
| Sign-in with Google | Your sign-in to teechr. The studio also loads your profile picture from Google's servers. | USA | |
| Microsoft Corporation | Sign-in with Microsoft | Your sign-in to teechr | USA |
| Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd) | Payments, subscription management and credit purchases | Your email address, name and account id; the payment and billing details you enter on Stripe's pages | Ireland, with transfers to the USA |
| Anthropic | Writing scripts, when a Claude model is used | The text of your course | USA |
| OpenAI | Writing scripts, when a GPT model is used; voiceovers, when an OpenAI voice is used | The text of your course; the narration text | USA |
| Eleven Labs Inc. | Voiceovers | The narration text | USA |
These providers use the text they receive to return a result to teechr, under their terms for business customers. Anthropic and OpenAI do not use data sent through their APIs to train their models.
Within SAS KERAPPS, the site administrator can see every account, lesson, spending record and viewing statistic on an admin page, to run and support the service. Data may also be disclosed to authorities when the law requires it.
7. Transfers outside the European Union
Cloudflare, Google, Microsoft, Anthropic and OpenAI are based in the United States and may process data there, and Stripe transfers some data there. These transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and, where a provider is certified, on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
8. Published videos
Every video has its own link from the moment its script is written, and anyone who has the link can watch it: its title, its subject line, its script, diagrams, voiceover and closing question. The subject line starts as the name of the file you uploaded, until you rename it. Links are long, random and not listed anywhere, but anyone you share one with can pass it on. Only put personal data in a video if you are allowed to share it.
9. How long data is kept
- Account, password hash, uploaded files and videos: while your account exists. You can delete a video or take it offline at any time; its public copy is then removed and its link stops working.
- Deleting your account: there is no self-service deletion yet. Email hello@teechr.co from your account's address, and the account and its content are deleted by hand within 30 days.
- Drafts set aside: the 30 most recent are kept; older ones are deleted automatically.
- Sign-in codes and password tries: a code works for 10 minutes. What is kept to check it, and to limit how often codes are sent and passwords tried, is deleted at most an hour after the last code or try.
- Script generation details: the last 10 runs.
- Viewing statistics: 25 months, then deleted automatically.
- Spending log: kept as long as the billing records below.
- Billing records: 10 years, as French accounting law requires.
- Cookies and browser storage: see section 10.
10. Cookies and browser storage
| Name | Kind | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
teechr_session | Cookie, HttpOnly | Keeps you signed in. Strictly necessary. | 30 days |
teechr_oauth | Cookie, HttpOnly | Protects the sign-in with Google or Microsoft while it happens. Strictly necessary. | 10 minutes |
teechr_pending | Cookie, HttpOnly | Holds a sign-in with Google or Microsoft while you confirm your email address with a code. Strictly necessary. | 10 minutes |
teechr.theme | Local storage | Remembers the light or dark theme you picked. | Until you clear it |
teechr.intent | Session storage | Remembers the plan you chose on the pricing page while you sign in. Strictly necessary. | Until the tab is closed |
teechr.visitor | Local storage | Random identifier for viewing statistics on video pages, and for counting visits to teechr's own pages. | 13 months, then replaced by a new one |
teechr.nostats | Local storage | Remembers that you asked for your views not to be counted. | Until you clear it |
teechr sets no advertising or third-party analytics cookies, and loads no scripts or fonts from other sites. Strictly necessary cookies need no consent. The viewing identifier serves only teechr's own statistics, is never combined with other data, and needs no consent either; you can refuse it with the button in section 3. You can clear local storage for teechr.co in your browser's settings.
11. Your rights
Under the GDPR and French data protection law, you can:
- access your data and get a copy of it;
- have it corrected;
- have it erased;
- restrict its processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interest;
- receive it in a portable format: the studio already lets you export each of your videos as a
.teechr.zipfile; - give instructions on what happens to your data after your death.
To use these rights, email hello@teechr.co, from your account's address if you have one. You will get an answer within one month.
Viewing statistics carry only a random identifier kept in the viewer's browser, so teechr cannot link them to a person unless that identifier is given. Clearing teechr.co's site data in your browser removes it.
If you think your rights are not respected, you can complain to the CNIL (Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés): www.cnil.fr.
12. Changes
When what teechr collects, or how it uses it, changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
